Seats
A seat is an active member. Adding seats bills immediately; removing them takes effect at the end of the billing period and produces no credit.
Who this is for: Organisation owners. Only owners can change seat counts.
What a seat is
Your seat limit is the number of seats on the Team subscription. Your seats used count is the number of active members. Invited-but-not-yet-accepted people do not consume a seat until they accept, but the seat limit is still checked when the invite is created.
Both numbers are shown in Settings → Team and Settings → Billing.
Adding seats
If that immediate charge fails, the seat change is prevented entirely rather than partially applied. You will not end up in a state where the seat count went up but the payment did not go through. Fix the payment method in the Paddle portal and try again. See Invoices and payment methods.
Removing seats
Because the change is scheduled rather than instant, Byteflare shows the pending seat count and the date it takes effect. You can cancel a scheduled decrease before that date, which returns you to your current seat count with no charge.
The seat floor
You cannot reduce seats below the number of active members. Byteflare refuses the change and tells you the floor, for example Can't reduce below 4 active members. Remove members first. Remove the people first, then reduce the seats.
Order of operations that avoids surprises
Remove the people who are leaving
In Settings → Team. This lowers the seat floor.
Reduce the seat count
In Settings → Billing. The reduction is scheduled for the end of the period.
Expect no refund
You have already paid for the current period. That money is not returned.
